It is okay not to be okay during the holiday season

It is understandable to find yourself not feeling okay during the holiday season, especially when dealing with a season of loss.

Grief is a complex journey, and the holidays may unexpectedly bring up a range of emotions you didn't anticipate. I may not know where you stand in this process, but please understand that it is perfectly okay not to be okay.

Feel free to decline invitations to holiday gatherings if they feel too overwhelming, particularly those with young children. Guard your heart and give yourself the space you need.

It's okay to share in the joy of others, like a couple's Christmas card pregnancy announcement, while still grappling with your feelings of sadness and longing. Your emotions are valid, and it's okay not to appear as strong as you might typically be during this season of uncertainty.

Whatever emotions surface during this time of loss and waiting are significant and deserving of acknowledgment. Remember, God understands the deepest desires of your heart, and this period of pregnancy loss is not a permanent "no"; it's a "not yet." Your grief will find healing, and your loss will be redeemed.

As 1 John 3:20 reminds us, even if we experience guilt or other emotions, God is greater than those feelings. Take relief in the fact that, through Jesus, we can overcome grief and find hope.

Despite the darkness and waiting, there is hope. Embrace the promise of Jesus and the profound meaning of his birth. In Christ, we are born anew, and this hope will not disappoint us. Romans 5:5 assures us of God's immense love, filling our hearts with the Holy Spirit.

In this season of waiting and darkness, it's okay not to be okay. But, more importantly, cling to hope. Jesus is near to those with broken hearts, offering solace and the promise of a brighter tomorrow.

1 John 3:20 NLT: “Even if we feel guilty, God is greater than our feelings, and he knows everything.”

Romans 5:5 NLT: “And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.”

In Joy,

Nichole
